Career Calling Mentors

Mentor Code of Conduct

Last updated: 5 November 2026

1. Purpose

This code applies to everyone who mentors through Career Calling Mentors, a service of Career Calling International Pty Ltd, part of CAQA Groups. Mentees are asked to follow the same principles of respect and honesty.

Mentoring here is voluntary and free for mentees. Its purpose is to share experience and perspective so a mentee can make their own decisions about study and work.

2. Respect and inclusion

Treat every mentee with courtesy and respect, whatever their background, age, gender, culture, religion, disability, sexuality or circumstances.

Do not discriminate, harass, bully or make unwelcome comments, online or in person.

3. Boundaries

Keep the relationship professional. Do not start a romantic or sexual relationship with a mentee, and do not seek one.

Do not ask a mentee for money, gifts, favours, unpaid work or personal information beyond what the mentoring needs.

Do not sell, promote or recruit for your own or anyone else's products, services, courses or businesses through a mentoring relationship.

Do not offer legal, financial, migration, medical or other regulated advice. Suggest the mentee speaks with a qualified professional.

Do not promise a job, interview, placement, visa outcome or other result.

4. Privacy and confidentiality

Keep what a mentee tells you confidential, unless you believe someone is at risk of harm or the law requires disclosure. In those cases contact our team first where you can.

Do not share a mentee's details, documents or story with anyone else without their permission.

Use the contact arrangements our team sets up and do not publish anything about a mentee.

5. Safety

Meet in public places or by video or phone. Do not meet in a private home.

Mentees under 18 take part only with a parent or guardian's consent and our team's approval, and only with a mentor who holds a current Working with Children Check. See our safeguarding policy.

If you are worried about a mentee's safety or wellbeing, contact our team straight away. In an emergency call 000.

6. Honesty

Give accurate information in your application and keep your profile up to date.

Tell us if anything changes that affects your suitability to mentor, including your Working with Children Check status.

7. If something goes wrong

Mentees, mentors and others can raise a concern with us at any time by phone or email. We will listen, look into it fairly and keep it confidential as far as we can.

We may pause or remove a mentor profile, end a match or decline an application where we believe this code has not been followed.
