Career Calling Mentors

Safeguarding

Last updated: 5 November 2026

1. Our commitment

We want everyone who takes part in Career Calling Mentors to be safe and respected. This policy explains how we reduce risk and what to do if you are worried.

2. Who can take part

Mentoring is voluntary. Mentors and mentees can stop at any time.

Mentoring is for adults by default. Mentees are asked to confirm they are 18 or over when they make a request.

A mentee under 18 can take part only with a parent or guardian's consent and our team's approval. We confirm the parent or guardian's consent before any match, and we will only match the young person with a mentor who holds a current Working with Children Check (or the equivalent check in their state or territory).

3. How we check mentors

Before a profile is published we confirm the mentor's identity and review their professional background through LinkedIn or a referee.

We ask for a Working with Children Check wherever a mentor may work with people under 18, and record whether they hold one.

A profile goes live only with the mentor's consent, and shows their first name and last initial, never their contact details.

4. How matches are made

A member of our team confirms every match before an introduction. No one can contact a mentor directly through the website.

Introductions are made by email through our team. We encourage mentoring by video, phone or in public places.

5. Raising a concern

If you are worried about your own safety or someone else's, contact us on 1800 266 160 or info@caqa.com.au. In an emergency call 000.

We will take every concern seriously, act promptly, keep it as confidential as we can and, where required, report it to the police or the relevant authority.

We may pause a match or a mentor profile while we look into a concern.

6. Review

We review this policy regularly and after any serious concern.
